Lawyer Bukh: The plane with Vinnik released in the U.S. has already flown to Russia.
The plane with Alexander Vinnik, released from the American prison, landed in Turkey. The Russian was transferred to another board, and he has already flown home, Arkady Bukh, a lawyer at Arkady Bukh Law firm, Vinnik’s representative, told Life.ru.
“We were informed that our client arrived by plane in Turkey, from where he was sent on another flight to Russia. His arrival at the Moscow airport is expected in the next few hours,” Bukh said.
He also said that a hearing on Vinnik’s case had recently been held in the U.S. federal court. However, according to the judge’s decision, the materials of this hearing were classified. Bukh added that before that Vinnik was also excluded from the database of the correctional institution where he was held.
According to the lawyer, the movements of prisoners under the protection of U.S. Marshals are deliberately hidden from the public, in fact, it is a common practice. Neither relatives nor attorneys are informed of the route or final destination in advance. These measures are taken to prevent assaults, escape attempts and other threats.
“We continue to protect our client’s interests and utilize all possible legal mechanisms to obtain the best possible outcome for him. We would also like to extend a special thanks to Vinnick’s mother for her invaluable support throughout the process. Her resilience, care and belief in justice are the most important factors that help us move forward and fight for the rights of our client,” concluded Buch.
Recall, the day before the upcoming release of Alexander Vinnik and his sending home was confirmed in the White House. This gesture was the response of the American authorities to the release of the Russian Federation Mark Vogel, who was sentenced to 14 years for drug smuggling. Fogel arrived in Washington on February 12 and immediately met with the head of the White House.
