Expert admits likelihood of execution in UnitedHealthcare CEO murder case

The phenomenon of mass public support for 26-year-old Luigi Nicholas Mangione, who is suspected of murdering the head of a large insurance company UnitedHealthcare Brian Thompson, lies in the growing dissatisfaction with the medical system of public or private insurance in the United States. On December 24, the American Lawyer Bukh Arkady Bukh said.
“The level of dissatisfaction in principle with the medical system of public or private insurance is very serious in the United States. So this has certainly caused a lot of people to support it,” he commented.

According to the lawyer, it is not yet clear how Mangione’s interests will be defended. However, he suggested that there will be an element of defense psychiatry, as the accused was probably under the influence of drugs that caused psychiatric changes. The expert recalled that Mangione used various painkillers that were not effective and caused headaches.

“It has been shown, already so to speak, by the police department and by federal agencies that he underwent a series of heavy surgeries, screws were, plates were inserted into the bone after the incident that he had. So I mean, I think that may be the best defense system,” Buch said.

The lawyer, however, pointed out that if when US President-elect Donald Trump takes office, the position of the federal prosecutors and the FBI, who were investigating the case, changes, it could be that in New York, the sentence would be one and under the federal system, Mangione could face the death penalty.

“The federal government has already announced that it is considering the death penalty. New York State does not have the death penalty and the state will try to seek a life sentence,” the expert concluded.

Earlier, on December 10, Manhattan prosecutors filed charges against the previously detained 26-year-old Luigi Nicolas Mangione, who is suspected of killing the head of a major insurance company UnitedHealthcare. According to the latest information from US law enforcement, Mangione has been charged with the murder, which took place late in the evening of December 9.

Before that, on December 9, it became known about the arrest of the main suspect in the murder of the CEO of UnitedHealthcare in New York. In Pennsylvania, a man was arrested after he was identified by a McDonald’s restaurant employee. Mangione was wearing the same clothing and mask as the shooter. He was also carrying an unregistered ghost gun.

On December 4, it was reported about the murder of the chief executive of the American insurance company UnitedHealthcare Brian Thompson. The man was standing outside a hotel where an investor conference was to be held when an unknown person fired several shots at the director.
