Georgia denied information about detention of other Russians together with Tyurin

TBILISI, September 8 – RIA Novosti. Georgia’s Chief Prosecutor’s Office has denied information that other Russian citizens were detained together with Russian hacking suspect Andrei Tyurin.

“As for the question of whether one or two people were detained together with him in this case, no, they were not,” the prosecutor’s office told RIA Novosti.

Earlier, the Secret Service, the FBI and the US Attorney’s Office said in a joint statement that Russian citizen Andrei Tyurin had been extradited from Georgia. Georgian law enforcers detained the 35-year-old Muscovite at the request of the United States. He is suspected of attempting to hack into the systems of financial institutions, news agencies and brokerage firms in the United States, as well as cyberattacks on American and foreign companies.

Arkady Bukh, a lawyer for another defendant in the case, told RIA Novosti that there may be at least one more Russian in Georgia, who was detained a year ago along with Andrei Tyurin, who was extradited to the US.
