“In the coming hours.” Vinnik’s lawyer revealed the details of his return to Russia

Lawyer Bukh: Alexander Vinnik will return home in a few hours.

Alexander Vinnik, co-founder of the BTC-E crypto exchange Alexander Vinnik, released as part of the exchange, will return to Russia from the United States in a few hours. He has already arrived in Turkey, from where he will fly to Moscow. About it 360.ru told the lawyer Arkady Bukh, representing the interests of Vinnik.

Vinnik’s return to Russia
He stressed that Vinnik’s deportation is handled by a system of federal marshals responsible for the transportation of prisoners. But the agency never discloses its routes, so it is impossible to name the exact whereabouts of the Russian now.

“This is due to criminal cartel attacks that constantly threaten the federal marshals. The routes are kept strictly secret to ensure the safety of employees and prisoners,” Buch said.

The lawyer added that he could tell from the information coming to him that Vinnik would return to Russia in the very near future.

“We have been informed that our client arrived by plane in Turkey, from where he was sent on another flight to Russia. His arrival at Moscow airport is expected in the next few hours,” the interlocutor told 360.ru.

Buch noted that deportation from the U.S. usually takes at least a week. But Vinnik’s case became political, in addition there was an exchange, so everything happens much faster.

The Russian was facing hundreds and hundreds of years in prison, based on the amounts, the withdrawal of which through the crypto exchange was imputed to him. According to Buch, he sought his client’s release from the past administration, but they had a negative attitude towards cryptocurrency. Now the situation has completely changed.

“We will continue to protect the interests of our client and use all possible legal mechanisms to achieve the best possible result for him,” the lawyer emphasized.

Vinnik’s case
Alexander Vinnik was arrested in 2017 in Greece at the request of the United States on charges of money legalization through the crypto exchange BTC-e. In August 2020, the Russian was extradited to the United States. His trial lasted several years. All this time he was in prison.

The mother of the co-founder of the crypto exchange Vera Vinnik said in a comment to 360.ru that it is hard for her son there, but other prisoners did not hurt him.

“People there are busy with their own problems, so they don’t care who you are – Russian, Belarusian, Ukrainian. Everyone solves their own problems and concerns,” she emphasized.

Last Wednesday, February 12, after the return of American Mark Vogel from the Russian colony, the U.S. State Department announced that it would stop the criminal prosecution of Alexander Vinnik and send him to Russia as part of a prisoner exchange.
