The case against a SeekingArrangement.com “sugar daddy,” who was accused of rape by a “baby” he met on the popular site, was tossed Wednesday morning.
Prosecutors said Wednesday they could not prove the case against real estate broker partyboy Lakhinder Vohra, 47, who was arrested after a woman he met on the site said she had been raped during an encounter with him.
They moved to dismiss his charges Manhattan Criminal Court after a long investigation into the woman’s claims, they said.
“My reputation has been tarnished,” Vohra said, declining to comment further outside the courthouse.
The flamboyantly-dressed Vohra – who wore a pink patterned tie and tan suit to court — was seen posing with a bevy of younger, attractive women at parties in photos that surfaced after his Jan. 23 arrest.
SeekingArrangment.com brands itself as the “#1 Sugar Daddy Dating Site” and the “leading sugar daddy dating and sugar baby personals” site in America.
But Vohra’s lawyers said the nature of the online networking spot puts men in potentially-vulnerable situations when dealing with women who expect around $1,500 a month from “daddies” with fat-wallets.
Vohra’s attorney, Mike Saint-Pre, said the accusation was “all about extortion,” an attempt at getting paid by a money-hungry gal.
“It’s just disgusting. If you’re upset with someone and you want money there are other ways, but you don’t cry out rape,” Saint-Pre said.
“He was fired. He lost a lot,” added Saint-Pre’s co-counsel, Arkady Bukh.
Vohra had been charged with first-degree rape, attempted criminal sex act and sex abuse upon his arrest. He could have faced up to 25 years in prison if the case had gone forward.
