Russian programmer Stanislav Lisov, extradited to the United States earlier this year, faces a life sentence in prison. This was told by his Lawyer Bukh, writes “Izvestia”.
Lisov is accused of cybercrimes, his guilt he does not admit. At the moment he is in the isolation ward of the New York City prison. According to Bukh, the case is expected to reach a jury trial.
“The trial may take place next year or even in 2020, as the evidence base has millions of pages,” – said the defender.
It is specified that Lisov is accused of kidnapping almost $1 million and attempting to carry out other illegal transactions worth more than $4 million. Bukh noted that we are talking about a life sentence.
“Stanislav may receive a sentence that exceeds his life expectancy in prison. In other words, we are actually talking about a life sentence. Although in most cases for such crimes do not give above 25 years in prison,” the lawyer said.
At the same time, he stressed that the conditions of detention in the isolation ward of the prison are satisfactory.
